Whakizashi "Kurume ju Suketoshi" signed, Edo period in shirasaya. This is Japanese sword wakizashi. The blade is signed "Kurume ju Suketoshi", long hira-zukuri shape, late Edo period made (XVIIth. century). The blade is in old polish, straight temper with kinsuji active throughout the blade and has healthy o-maru temper at the point. The forging grain is very tight ko-nuka-hada (pear skin) forging and nothing loose grain. There is no bend, no nicks, no crack and the cutting edge is razor sharp. There is one Kanji (Suke) engravings on the blade. The blade is healthy and not much polish down since it was made, measures 17 1/4" cutting edge, 1 1/8" width, 1/4" thickness at the notch and 22 3/4" in shirosaya mountings. This is good example of Hizen shin-shinto and very rare. Price: 3.250 euros |
